Help for Pets with fear, anxiety, Reactivity and aggression

At Animal Psychology Clinic, we help owners whose dogs and cats are experiencing behaviour problems including reactivity, aggression, fear, anxiety, separation anxiety, resource guarding and all other behaviour problems using scientific, ethical and welfare-based methods.

Pet Insurance: As Kathryn is an APBC and ABTC Registered Clinical Animal Behaviourist our services meet the practitioner requirements of pet insurance companies. As cover varies between insurers and policies, we recommend checking your individual policy before booking.

Every behaviour case begins with a clinical behaviour consultation which includes a behaviour assessment. After assessment we will design a behaviour rehabilitation program tailored for you and your pet.

We also offer dog training and puppy training including 1-2-1 training and group classes.

Do you need a Dog Trainer or a Clinical Animal Behaviourist?

The terms “dog trainer”, “behaviourist” or “clinical animal behaviourist” are not legally regulated in the UK, so anyone can set themselves up in business.

To help regulate the industry the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC) have set out standards of knowledge and practical skills needed for dog training and behaviour support. A national register is available for owners to determine if someone is suitably qualified and working within their defined role.

Dog trainers (ATI) teach practical life skills such as recall, loose lead walking, puppy training and general obedience. If you need help with training, we offer a full range of dog and puppy training.

Clinical Animal Behaviourists (CAB) specialise in assessing and treating behaviour problems such as aggression, reactivity, resource guarding, fear, anxiety, separation anxiety and abnormal compulsive behaviours. Our clinical rehabilitation programs involves detailed history taking, behavioural analysis, clinical reasoning, risk assessment, treatment planning, collaboration with your vet when appropriate, practical coaching sessions and ongoing support.

Behaviour problems are very different from training issues and we are happy to accept referrals from local trainers. If you are a dog trainer and would like to discuss how we can help please contact us.
